Brightly coloured and full of surprises – the “COLOR Friends” collection by Fehn stimulates the baby’s senses in a special way

While smelling and tasting are already very well developed in newborns, seeing, touching and hearing must first be practised. The human brain is programmed for permanent perception and searches for new impulses and impressions. With this in mind, the new “COLOR Friends” collection from the traditional Franconian company Fehn GmbH & Co. KG was conceived. Bright colours, the combination of different materials as well as the integration of different sound sources appeal to babies’ senses and awaken their spirit of discovery. Some purely educational toys even support early childhood brain development. The new collection is full of little surprises and with its colourful design and funny animal figures, it is also a real eye-catcher for parents in their children's rooms.

One has to learn to see and focus correctly!

The world is full of sounds – but what do they mean?

In mum’s belly, the repertoire of sounds is straightforward: Heartbeat, blood circulation, digestion, and of course mum’s voice. That's what babies are familiar with when they're born. But how loud it can be on the outside with so many sounds bombarding the new earthlings! This is exactly where the toys from COLOR Friends come into play, which have specifically integrated rustling paper, ding-dongs, squeaks, rattles or even animal voices. In this way, the baby can make its own sounds and learn to identify the source. The collection also includes eleven music boxes with different, partly new melodies – they are wonderful for falling asleep or just for calming down, almost as beautiful as mum’s voice.

Touching and feeling made easy thanks to “COLOR Friends”

Mum’s skin is one of the first things that babies feel and they experience it as pleasant and familiar. They are also familiar with the warmth from their mum's stomach and it triggers a comfortable feeling. The world beyond Mama has yet to be conquered and is best done with mouth and hands. The latter are initially only able to grip things reflexively, as babies only recognize after about three months that their hands belong to them and that they can control them: The starting point for conscious haptic experiences. Fehn promotes this in its new collection, for example, by using a mix of materials. Fluffy, soft, smooth, furry and hard materials can be felt. Little bells, rattles, gripping rings or biters can be moved and superbly pulled on. Not only does feeling become an experience, but fine motor skills are trained as well.

Learning made easy with Fehn's educational toys

Dogs, cats and horses play the leading role in “COLOR Friends”. An owl and caterpillar as well as a flower, moon, beetle and apple play likeable supporting roles. All in all, the baby spends time with the motifs and shapes of its natural environment and gets to know them in a playful way. The new collection also includes over twenty activity and educational toys, such as a colourful play glove that acts like a first little puppet show for mum and dad, making it easy to practice role-playing and keep the baby busy. A set of 4 cubes is also included, which trains haptics, acoustics, action and reaction starting at the time of birth. Or the great colourful dog that can be easily attached to the handle of the infant carrier without loops or strings, making boring car journeys more pleasant.

Fehn has always been committed to promoting babies’ senses. In the new collection “COLOR Friends” this could be further developed and perfected with a clear focus and a much richer assortment. It’s just one more way to help newborns get started in life.
